CLARKSVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Clarksville police are investigating after a University of Tennessee football player was shot at a party early Sunday.

Officers were called about 2:45 a.m. to the 3000 block of Lavender Circle, where they received word of an alleged aggravated assault.

A woman there said she also heard several shots fired in the area.

Police say 19-year-old Jalen Reeves-Maybin had been shot in the arm while standing in the street.

Maybin told police someone started shooting and he felt a sharp pain in his arm. He and his friends then got in a car and left the area, and Maybin was later treated at Gateway Medical Center for the gunshot injury.

Maybin is entering his sophomore season as a linebacker for the Vols, and he was credited with 14 tackles in 11 games as a freshman.

He attended Northeast High School in Clarksville.

The shooting remains under investigation, and a description of the possible shooter hasn't been released.

Anyone with information is asked to call Clarksville-Montgomery County Crime Stoppers at 645-TIPS.
