Supervisors commit to Front Beach replenishment

OCEAN SPRINGS, MS (WLOX) - Jackson County supervisors are moving forward with plans to shore-up the eroding seawall and boardwalk along Front Beach in Ocean Springs.

Wave action and poor drainage have combined to wash away a section of the beach. Now, a portion of the boardwalk and decorative wall are cracking and shifting. The county maintains the beach, but the city is responsible for repairing the sidewalk and wall.

Monday morning, supervisors committed to replenishing the beach. They plan to use 2,500 cubic yards of sand to expand the beach 80 feet out from the sidewalk.
