SHELBY COUNTY, TN -
(WMC) - A Mid-South trash company, ABC Waste, is going out of business. WMC Action News 5 learned about the major development after receiving several complaints of trash not being collected.

Empty commercial trash bins were plentiful at the establishment, located just outside Millington. Company officials say they are out of business and customers are going to have to go elsewhere.

Angela Childress is tired of trash piling up outside of her home near Bartlett.

"Right before I paid them, the truck came through the neighborhood on my street and I tried to flag them down and ask if they'd get my trash," said Childress. "They kept going. I went to work, came back, my trash was still at the curb."

Some who live in the neighborhood near Bartlett say it has been at least two weeks since ABC picked up their trash.

"Trash is not being picked up. It's a nice, decent neighborhood but you can't tell by all the garbage out here on the street," said Jason Smith.

WMC Action News 5 began investigating ABC Waste in January. Some ABC customers in Tipton and Lauderdale Counties had not had their trash picked up in weeks.

ABC officials told WMC Action News 5 investigators that their commercial trash pickup will now go to All American Waste Systems out of Collierville.

If you have paid ABC for service, they say you will be credited with the new company.

WMC Action News 5 is still waiting to hear what company will take over the residential trash pickup for that area.

As Ja-Naya Thompson's short life was celebrated, there were a lot of tears and hugs as hundreds of people paid their respects during the visitation and the funeral service. People told me they went to Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church for two reasons, to mourn the loss of five year old Ja-Naya and to show support to the parents who must now face life without their beloved child.More >>
