JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Calvin Durr, the man who barricaded himself inside a Jackson home with a 3 year old child, has been charged with kidnapping, rape and aggravated assault. He is considered a flight risk and received no bond in court on Monday.

Durr surrendered to police just before one o'clock on Monday morning. We are told the child he had inside with him is safe.

According to Jackson Police Chief Lindsay Horton, Durr is expected to be charged with kidnapping and sexual assault.

Horton says Durr was arguing with his girlfriend, when he locked her and her 3 year old child inside the home with him.

His girlfriend escaped, but the child was left in the home with Durr.

"He came out with incident," said Horton. "We introduced him to some pretty strong swat tactics, but we did not have the occasion to have to use force. We convinced him to come out and the child is also safe."

Durr's girlfriend and her child were taken to a local hospital for examination.

We will continue to follow this story.
