BILOXI, MS (WLOX) -

Biloxi police are trying to determine what triggered a dog attack on a jogger Saturday morning. According to Sgt. Arnie Palmer, a woman was jogging on Popp's Ferry Road around 11 a.m. when she was bitten by a dog of an unknown breed.

A passerby witnessed the attack and contacted police. Palmer said by the time police arrived, the owner of the dog was able to separate the dog from the jogger.

Due to police protocol, the dog has been placed in quarantine for 10 days. The dog was picked up by a Biloxi animal control officer.

Palmer said the victim was bitten on the thigh but refused medical treatment.

Police are trying to figure out whether or not the dog has any prior history of attacks.
