Former DMR Director seeks sentencing delay

SOUTH MISSISSIPPI (WLOX) - We have learned of another new development in the DMR probe on Friday evening. This time, the focus is on former DMR Director Bill Walker.

Attorneys for Walker just filed a motion that requests a delay in his sentencing from June 5, until the middle part of July.

The motion says a continuance is necessary so prosecutors and defense attorneys can reach an agreement on certain sentencing issues. The judge has not yet ruled on the request.

In March, the former DMR boss pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy involving the use of federal money he controlled at the DMR. The punishment for that crime could be as much as five years in prison.
