MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC) - Shelby County Schools received an audio recording of the principal of Florida-Kansas Elementary referring to students in a derogatory manner. The recording also included a discussion about improper implementation of the school's TCAP test.

An SCS spokesman says the district conducted a thorough investigation and accepted the principal's resignation before the TCAP test. The district said all allegations are taken seriously and necessary measures are taken to preserve the integrity of the testing process.

Principal Tracie Boyd Greer is heard on tape talking about test-rigging and calling students the n-word. The remarks came during a meeting about TCAP testing during which Greer discussed tactics to ensure 10 students per class did well.

"What I'm saying is, we got to get us a plan in place," she said in the audio recording leaked by a faculty member at Florida-Kansas Elementary School. "Get you 10 damn folks, screw down your damn kids. Make sure you got them ------- tight. You understand me? Get them 10 ------- tight."

School board member David Pickler calls it disgusting.

"The way she referred to these children, is horrifying," said Pickler.

Pickler commends those who reported Greer and hopes others who may act similarly learn their lesson.

"And if that culture exists, it must be rooted out and thrown away," he said.

WMC Action News 5 went by former principal Greer's home in Germantown, but no one answered the door. A woman who answered the phone claimed she wasn't Greer.

Meanwhile, school board chairman Kevin Woods called this an "unfortunate situation."
