Harrison Central pitcher Chris Crosby signs with UNO Privateers

LYMAN, MS (WLOX) -

Instead of heading up highway 49 to Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, Chris Crosby will be driving on Interstate 10...destination the University of New Orleans.

Crosby signed with the Privateers of legendary head coach Ron Maestri.

Crosby said," That's one thing that's got me really excited. They were bouncing back and forth between divisions and I heard that coach Maestri moved back to UNO and they were back up to Division One and I've heard about the history that he's had, what a great coach he is. That's one thing that's got me really excited to go to the University of New Orleans."

This past season, Crosby posted 3 wins and 4 losses, a 2.46 earned run average with 38 strikeouts in 42 innings pitched.

In 2013, Crosby rang up a 6-1 record, a 1.15 ERA and had 40 strikeouts in 42 innings.

"He competes really hard. No matter who he's pitching against he wants to go out there and beaten and he's got the stuff to do it,"stated Harrison Central pitching coach Kelly Weems.

"His fast ball runs anywhere from 84 to I think we got him up to 88 this year and he usually stayed around 86-87."

Crosby said," Honestly I think my off speed and I'm going to continue to work on my fast ball. What they tell me my off speed is the best and is going to help me out the best at UNO. Got a 12/6 curve ball,a slider, so and a little bit of movement to my fast ball."

Crosby took photo's with his family by his side and I'm sure the Crosby family will trek over to New Orleans when Chris takes the mound for the Privateers.
