BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - Michael Janus must wait until June 24 to find out how much time he'll serve for his role in a federal fraud case. That's according to a court filing posted online Monday.
Originally, he was set to be sentenced Tuesday, May 6. But both his attorneys and prosecutors asked for a bit more time to sort out the specifics of his sentence.
Sentencing guidelines indicate the former D'Iberville city manager could spend as much as 10 years in prison for admitting to fraudulently obtaining a $180,000 finders fee for a company he co-owns with Scott Walker. The fee was paid by the city for helping D'Iberville acquire a $3 million MDEQ grant.
Scott Walker's sentencing date is July 23.
