FAYETTEVILLE, TN (WAFF) -

The case against Misty Shelton has been bound over to the grand jury.

Shelton faces vehicular homicide and other charges in connection with a police chase that killed one person and injured five people last August.

Police say Shelton stole a police cruiser after she was caught shoplifting from a dollar store in Fayetteville, Tennessee.

While driving the car at high speeds, authorities said she T-boned an SUV with five people inside. One passenger was killed; he was identified as 55-year-old Henry Holt of Westpoint, Tennessee. Four others were injured and taken to a nearby hospital.

The cruiser then crashed into a gas pump, ending the chase. Shelton was injured and taken to the hospital to be treated.

On Monday, Shelton was in court for a probable cause hearing. A former Tennessee Highway patrol officer took the stand and revealed that Shelton's blood alcohol content after the crash was .11. The toxicology report also indicated that other items were found in her system, but they did not reveal what those items were.

The witness testified that the car she allegedly stole and crashed cost about $25,000.

The grand jury will hear the case on May 20. Shelton will remain in the custody of the Tennessee Department of Corrections.
