Tigers take hit in this week's baseball polls

Posted: Updated:

After a tough weekend series against the Texas A&M Aggies, LSU has tumbled from No. 8 to No. 15 in this week's Baseball America Top 25.

The Tigers ended the week with a 2-2 record, including two tough defeats to A&M.

LSU started the week with a comeback victory against Alcorn State, 9-7 on Tuesday.

The Tigers faced two airplane mishaps on Thursday, before finally making it to their College Station hotel early Friday morning.

LSU won the Friday night contest against the Aggies in extra innings, 5-4, before dropping two one-run heartbreakers, 3-2 on Saturday and 4-3 on Sunday.

The Tigers also dropped to No. 15 in Collegiate Baseball's Top 30, down from No. 9.

PerfectGame.org ranks the Tigers as the 15th best team in the country, while the ESPN/USAToday poll still has the Tigers in the No. 6 spot.

LSU will return to action at 7 p.m. Friday when the Tigers play host to Alabama in Game one of a three-game SEC series in Alex Box  Stadium, Skip Bertman Field.
