Gautier taking up donations for Mississippi tornado victims

Posted: Updated:
GAUTIER, MS (WLOX) -

The City of Gautier needs your help collecting relief supplies for tornado victims in Louisville, MS. City Councilman Casey Vaughan is helping to lead the efforts and says the collection spots include the police department, public works, the central fire station and city hall.

"It is very important to participate in an event like this because we all have been in their shoes," said Vaughan. "We experienced Hurricane Katrina, and we need to help them and reach out and help them get back on their feet and recover like the Mississippi Gulf Coast did."

The tornado victims need bottled water, Gatorade, baby items and food as well as cleaning supplies, and paper towels, cups and tarps. Vaughan is hoping South Mississippians will dig deep into their pockets to provide some help.

You can donate items at the locations listed above until Wednesday. For more information call Gautier City Hall at 228-497-8000.
