Authorities in Jefferson Davis County are looking for an Alabama man they say sent a Prentiss police officer to the hospital after he hit the officer with his car. Mississippi Department of Public Safety Public Affairs Director Warren Strain said 38-year-old Deone Shackleford, of Hillsboro, AL, is wanted in the investigation of aggravated assault on a police officer.

Strain said Shackleford allegedly hit the officer with his car on Saturday night. He said the officer was treated at a local hospital for his injuries and later released.

Strain said Shackleford is described as a black male standing 5'7" and weighing 160 pounds.

If you have any information on the whereabouts of Shackleford, you are asked to contact the Mississippi Highway Patrol at 601-987-1530.
