Susan Mayfield laid to rest

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Saturday, friends and family paid their respects to 67-year-old Susan Mayfield, the Jackson woman police say was shot and killed by her husband of more than 40-years.

Many remembered her as a loving wife, mother and devoted friend.

Her funeral was held at Covenant Presbyterian Church, where the Mayfields were longtime members.
     According to her obituary, Susan Mayfield taught special education on a volunteer basis and also taught music to numerous students.

She will be laid to rest in a private service at a later date.

Her husband, Dr. William Mayfield, remains behind bars, charged with her murder.
