DIAMONDHEAD, MS (WLOX) - The city of Diamondhead's attorney, Sean Tindell, confirms to WLOX News that Richard Rose has formally requested a public hearing. That hearing will detail the accusations made by council members when they suspended the city manager last week. It will also give Rose an opportunity to respond to the charges.
City Council members voted four to two to suspend Rose, saying they had numerous problems with his work performance. Ward 1 Councilman Joseph Lopez said the decision was not made in haste.
"Richard is disorganized and has difficulty getting along with people on occasion. And the recommendation, after we talked the last time, was that we give him a 90-day period and give him a list of things to complete per month, and those suggestions were ignored," Councilman Lopez said.
"Attendance was an issue. He was never here, it seemed. And secondly, he was indecisive. I feel like he didn't provide enough information to a lot of the residents," said Ward 2 Councilman Blaine LaFontaine.
A date for the hearing has not been set.
