Businesses along Highway 49 setting up temporary offices

RICHLAND, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Businesses along Highway 49 in Richland are adapting to a new normal. Thursday, makeshift offices were set up in front of Fleet Pride.

When the twister hit after 6:30 Monday evening, all the employees had closed shop and gone home. No one was injured.

Harold Johnson is bringing in back up assistance from Birmingham, Alabama.

"We was in Florida and everywhere else and dealt with hurricanes," said Johnson. "We never had stores just totally wiped out like this one."

Next door, Michelin set up a mobile disaster response unit. This tire center is back in operation.

One woman was killed in Richland when the storm passed through.
