With a field consisting of 46 boats covering most of the Northern Gulf of Mexico states, the event saw five fish hit the weigh scales topping 50-pounds.
In all, the Come on Back fishing team, captained by Conrad Morris, walked away with top honors with a two-fish total weight of 118.9 pounds. That weight also included the largest fish entered at 77.35 pounds and caught by Steven Ladner while anchored off the west end of Horn Island using live bait.
The second place boat was Lipp Hooked and captain Todd Lipps of Ocean Springs and his nine-year-old son Todd Lipps, jr., at 112.9 pounds. The total payout was $13,540.
"The weather was great," said weighmaster Danny Pitalo. "All 46 boats checked out [Saturday] between 5:30 and 5:59 am. We had five fish over 50-pounds and most of the bigger fish were caught off Chandeleur [Island] and Horn Island sandbars."
