Number 5 LSU used a late rally to upend upset-minded Alcorn State 9-7

BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - LSU coach Paul Mainieri decided to give six reserve players a chance for playing time against Alcorn State.  The decision proved not so good.

The Braves banged out hit-after-hit, 16 on the night and had LSU on the ropes before Mainieri began benching his reserves and replaced them with his starters after 5 innings.

Jake Fraley ripped a three-run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning and the Tigers trailed 6-4.

Heading into the bottom of the 8th inning LSU was down 7 to 4 with two outs.  The Tigers would come to life at the plate.  Tyler Moore belted a two-run home run and Conner Hale send the ball over the wall for a two run home run and the Tigers posted a victory over a Braves team that entered the game with only 8 victories.

LSU travels to College Station for a three-game SEC series against Texas A&M beginning Friday night at 6:30.
