D'IBERVILLE, MS (WLOX) -

They were cooking up a storm at the VFW post 67-31 in D'Iberville on Sunday afternoon.

The VFW hosted a benefit fish fry, complete with corn, baked beans, cole slaw and plenty of desserts. Door prizes were also given out.

The event will help a deserving high school senior on his journey to college.

Marc Moore lost his right leg in a lawnmower accident when he was a toddler. Money raised during the fish fry is going to help him pay for college. He is a senior at D'Iberville High School.

Family members say they appreciate the caring help that Marc is receiving.

"The VFW has helped me out quite a bit, and I'm also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the VFW. My grandson, they all know him. We've been here I've had him since he was two and a half," said Marc's grandmother, Wanda Pinette.

VFW post 67-31 holds several fundraisers each year to raise money for college scholarships.
