Natchez man dies after being shocked with stun gun

Posted: Updated:

Authorities say a 43-year-old Natchez man died shortly after being shocked with a stun gun by an Adams County sheriff's deputy during a traffic stop for reckless driving.

Sheriff Chuck Mayfield said Tyrone Davis failed to comply with a deputy Wednesday night.

Mayfield said his department would conduct a full investigation into the situation. He says the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation and Federal Bureau of Investigation have been contacted to conduct an independent investigation.

Mayfield said he wouldn't release further details regarding the incident until the investigations were complete.

Adams County Coroner James Lee declined to comment on the incident until receiving autopsy results from the state crime lab.
