PERKINSTON, MS (MGCCC) - Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College finished the first spring under new head coach Chad Huff with a 40-45 play scrimmage Thursday at A.L. May Memorial Stadium.
"It's been a great spring," Huff said to his players after the scrimmage. "We've come a long way since January. I thought we've steadily improved since day one of spring practice. Talent alone is not enought. It takes great effort, and you showed that today."
The Bulldog offense cashed in on some big plays including a 45-yard touchdown pass from Jason Smith to Tyrone Williams, a 25-yard TD pass from Williams to Jammar Cole, two touchdown receptions from Tavaris McCormick, and a 45-yatd touchdown run from Rod Williams.
The Bulldog defense also racked up three sacks, a fumble recovery, and an interception.
Gulf Coast opens the 2014 season Aug. 28 at home against Northeast.
