BILOXI, MS (WLOX) -

Everything from Hurricane Katrina to funding issues has delayed completion of the four metal pods at the Ohr-O'Keefe Museum of Art in Biloxi.

When world renowned architect Frank Gehry designed the campus, the pods were called the signature structures on the property. Museum officials are excited about the construction on the pods.

"The wood floors are down in one pod, and many of the finishing interior touches have been completed," said museum Executive Director Kevin O'Brien.

Construction on the other pods is continuing at a brisk pace.

"By July 15 we expect to open all four pods," O'Brien said.

At that point, museum officials will remove construction fencing around the property, connecting the museum to highway 90.

"When people drive by the museum now they wonder, "how can I get in the place?" It will make a big difference by showing everyone that we are alive and kicking," O'Brien said.
