Electronic cigarettes are now a $2 billion industry. While the so called e-cigs are being marketed as cigarette alternatives, there are no real regulations from the Food and Drug Administration.
We would expect the FDA to soon have something to say about what has become a very popular device. We agree that e-cigs, like tobacco cigarettes, should be banned for minors and ingredients disclosures and health warning labels should be required.
The FDA must decide if e-cigs are really safer because they don't contain the chemicals and tar in tobacco cigs. If they are safer, we hope the FDA doesn't over-regulate, and recognizes that e-cigs may finally be the answer to getting rid of tobacco cigarettes altogether.
