Starkville police investigating case of psychic thief

STARKVILLE, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Starkville police are investigating accusations against an Alabama psychic reader.

Detective Bill Lott says Fatima Marks, who calls herself Mrs. Lamar, will be charged with grand larceny after an incident involving a Starkville senior citizen.

Willie Mae Allen suffers from arthritis and she asked Marks for help.

Police say that help isn't what she got when the psychic then visited her Starkville home.

We are told that while she was in the home, Marks took more than $8000 from Allen against her will; her whole life's savings.

"She said where's that money at? She took it out of my hand," said Allen.

"What we're concerned about is are there other people out there who have had a similar experience with Mrs. Lamar," said Detective Bill Lott from the Starkville Police Department. "We want to know. If so, we want to help those people."

Starkville police are urging anyone with information about any other possible victims to come forward.

Fatima Marks is scheduled to appear in court on May 15th.
