Firefighters provide hundreds of smoke alarms in Madisonville

Recent deadly and destructive fires have inspired Madisonville firefighters to save lives one home at a time.

The Madisonville Professional Firefighters Association donated 500 smoke detectors to the Madisonville City Council Monday evening.

The smoke detectors will be available free to the community.  They'll be handed out at the Madisonville Fire Department to anyone needing one.

"Just part of the job, that's what we would like to think we're here for is to save lives. And if we can give a smoke detector out to someone and it saves their life, we've done our job," says Lt. Henry Strader, Madisonville Fire Department.
