BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

A section of I-10 was closed for a few hours after an 18-wheeler partially went over a side guardrail and caused a fire early Tuesday morning.

I-10 East before the I-10/I-110 merge in Baton Rouge reopened to traffic around 9:15 a.m.

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) reported the wreck happened on I-10 East before Washington Street around 5 a.m.

Part of the cab of the tractor trailer went over the side and the rig was leaning toward the railing. The semi truck was removed from the scene around 8:30 a.m.

Capt. Ronald Norman with the Baton Rouge Police Department reported the driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital.

Police said the driver was ticketed because of the crash. The exact violations for which he was cited have not been released.

The accident caused heavy delays on I-10 East.

The cause of the crash is being investigated.
