(WMC) - A burned out car was found early Monday morning with a man inside, and now family members are searching for answers.

The vehicle was found around 7 a.m. on County Road 774 in Saint Francis County, between Madison and Forrest City, Ark.

"I just can't believe that somebody would take my brother's life. It hurts bad," said Cassie Holloway, the victim's sister.

A body believed to be that of 24-year-old Willie Wilson was discovered in his burned out car around 7 a.m. Monday morning. But his large family who gathered at the family home in Forrest City fears it is a false hope.

"If it's him, which you know, I'm still hoping and praying that is not," said Wilson's mother, Janette Crippin.

Wilson's family says the body was burned beyond recognition. He always wore a cross. They found that in the car.

Willie Wilson's family said they last talked with him at 11:00 p.m. Sunday night, and he said everything was fine. They can't imagine him ever going down an isolated dirt road, especially in this area of St. Francis County that is mostly fields.

"Why kill him and set his body on fire? We will never be able to see my brother's face again," said Cassie.

Wilson's family calls him "Chief." They say Wilson did not get in trouble and has a 4-year-old-son named Jaden.

The family says whoever killed Willie Wilson had to be someone he knew.

The body has been sent to the Arkansas State Crime lab for positive identification. If you know anything call the nearest law enforcement.
