Vancleave man killed in Friday night accident

VANCLEAVE, MS (WLOX) -

A Vancleave man died Friday night just before 10pm when his truck hit a pine tree on Old Biloxi Road in Vancleave.

Officials announced his death Monday morning, but were still withholding his identity until family members could be notified. He was described only as a 46-year-old man.

Witnesses told investigators the man was speeding down the road, and passed several vehicles before the crash. When he got to a sharp curve, the truck went off the road and he crashed into the tree.

It happened just south of the Larue community and the man was wearing a seatbelt.

The accident remains under investigation.
