JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A Jackson mother says she's furious after her daughter was thrown in jail after being allegedly assaulted in a Jackson Wal-Mart.

The incident happened Saturday afternoon at the WalMart just off Highway 18.

Denise Smith said she heard her 16-year-old daughter Antrinette scream.

The mother said she saw one Wal-Mart employee with his hand around her daughter's neck, and then they started fighting.

Smith said several other employees jumped in.

"What started it?," we asked.

"They claimed she stole something," Smith replied.

"When I reached the room, she didn't have nothing on her, but one of the men went back in the store and brought them to the front," Smith added.

Reporter: And claimed that she had taken those?

Smith: Yes.

Reporter: But they weren't on her?

Smith: No.

The daughter now faces shoplifting and assault charges.
