ASHDOWN, AR (KSLA) -

Police in Ashdown, Arkansas say they have identified a suspect in connection with threats made to a local Walmart store Friday morning.

William Dudley Edwards, 46, is wanted on a warrant for threatening a fire or bombing, according to Ashdown police.

A series of threatening calls were made Friday morning within minutes of each other to Walmart stores in Ashdown, Texarkana, AR and Texarkana, TX and New Boston.

Police say the call to the Ashdown store was the first, at round 6:35 a.m.  The stores were evacuated and closed while store employees searched. Nothing was found in any of the stores and they were reopened.

Here's part of what was said on the call:

"…You can help me by letting me blow up the store in Ashdown in Walmart (what?) I got a bomb in Walmart at Ashdown (whom am I talking to?)…"

Ashdown Police Chief Doyle Crouch said they were able to develop Edwards as a suspect, thanks in part to the technology used by the Walmart stores.

"And the carrier of Walmart has assisted us to determine the origination of the phone call and we have been able to develop more information to who actually made that call...," Crouch said.

Edwards also allegedly called the Little River County Sheriff's Office directly at 9:57 a.m. with more threats.

"But we don't believe it had anything to do with Walmart, we do believe that it could be possibly connected to some family problems," Crouch said.

Ashdown police can't say Edwards is responsible for the calls to the other stores, but authorities have said they believe the same person is responsible for all of the calls.

Edwards is formerly of Ashdown, and his last known address was Benton, AR.
