FEMA approves $116k for Long Beach storm repairs

Posted: Updated:
LONG BEACH, MS (WLOX) -

FEMA now says it will pay $116,605 to cover the cost of Hurricane Isaac repairs to boat launch ramps, a fuel facility and a wastewater pump out station in Long Beach.

Harrison County leaders have been waiting more than a year for the reimbursements after FEMA demanded an environmental study be completed first. Just recently, FEMA decided the study wasn't necessary.

The federal agency also recently approved $1.19 million to restore the West Side, Ken Combs, Moses and Urie piers in Gulfport. Another $400,821 will be used for Ken Combs, Moses and Urie jetty repairs.
