MENDENHALL, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

MDOT is reporting that the log truck accident on Highway 49 is now clear.

The wreck was at Highways 49 and 149. Police tell us that a trailer pulled out in front of the log truck causing it to flip, spilling it's load of logs into the road.

Mendenhall Police Chief Candy McCollum tells us that the truck driver has been hospitalized. The driver's injuries are unknown at this time.

Officer John Watts says, "He got pinned in. He wasn't able to get out. There wasn't very much room between his body and the steering wheel so the fire department had to come in with the jaws of life and cut him out."

Southbound traffic was re-routed onto the frontage road, to make room for northbound traffic, while the accident scene was cleaned up.

The wrecked truck, and the logs that were spilled on the road, were finally cleaned up just before 2 this afternoon.
