Lockdown lifted at Greenbrier Middle School

Posted: Updated:

Greenbrier Middle School was on lockdown Wednesday morning after officials say a school employee's relative made a threat toward the employee.

Greenbrier Police Chief Kevin Richards says a teacher's assistant at the school got a message from his girlfriend saying that the school employee's brother was going to come to the school and "whip him."

Police say the threat stemmed from an argument that happened in Springfield on Tuesday night.

The brother was tracked down by police and he told them he had not planned to go to the school. He was interviewed by authorities and released.

The employee can choose to pursue charges on the threats.

The school was put on lockdown around 10:15 a.m. and it was lifted by noon.
