NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Four people met in Nashville to buy gift cards using counterfeit credit cards in an operation involving thousands of dollars, Metro Police said Tuesday.

Officers were tipped off Monday about four people staying at the Red Roof Inn on Sidco Drive.

Police watched Olakunle Ijiti, Samuel Cole, Dorishatu Turay and Olayinka Bangura get into a BMW and drive to Walmart stores on Nolensville and Edmondson pikes.

The group allegedly used fraudulent credit cards with stolen numbers to buy $2,800 worth of gift cards from the stores.

Investigators searched the suspects, their hotel rooms and vehicle and discovered more than 100 gift cards, computers, a credit card encoder and more than $32,000 in blank money orders, police said.

All four are charged with criminal simulation and were released on $5,000 bond. Police said additional charges are likely.

Cole and Ijiti traveled from Maryland and Turay and Bangura came up from Miami, police said.
