Augusta man dies in motorcycle crash

AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -

A 44-year-old Augusta man died Tuesday after his motorcycle collided with a car on McDade Road, according to the Richmond County Sheriff's Office.

Ervin A. Gay was driving his motorcycle westbound on the 1800 block McDade Road around 5:45 p.m. when he collided with a Ford Mustang traveling eastbound, deputies said.

Gay was traveling too fast for conditions while attempting to make a curve and drove into the eastbound lane, deputies said. The front of the motorcycle hit the front of the Mustang.

Gay was pronounced dead at the scene, Richmond County Coroner Mark Bowen said. He died from blunt force trauma.

No autopsy will be performed, but a toxicology report for drugs and alcohol will be conducted.
