Officials: Man killed in early morning shooting

GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) -

WLOX News has confirmed that a man was killed in an early morning shooting in Gulfport on Monday.

Officials with the Gulfport Police Department said officers responded to a shooting at William Bell Apartments shortly after 1 a.m.

Police Chief Leonard Papania said officers discovered 21-year-old Britton Owens, of Gulfport, dead at the scene with a gunshot wound to the head.

Papania said a motive for the shooting is not yet known, and the incident is still under investigation.
