WLOX announces St. Jude Dream Home winner

GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) -

After months of promoting the St. Jude Dream Home giveaway, a winner was announced on WLOX-ABC Sunday evening.

Ellen Cole and her husband were greeted at their brand new dream home with smiles and hugs as this year's winner of the dream home in the Village at Tradition.

"I don't know what I'm going to do. I'm so excited," Cole said.

Cole says she donates to St. Jude every month, and she was surprised to receive the winning call and thought it was a joke.

"I still can't believe it's true. I thought that I might have passed out when I got here, or when I got here somebody would say it was just a joke. My phone has been ringing off the hook," Cole said.

Randy Mason, of Mason Trendsetter's, is the man behind the construction. He says he couldn't be happier to be able to build such a beautiful home, equipped with the latest technology, and hand it over to the Cole family.

"I'm so proud for her. I mean she is just tickled to death. I mean this is the reason we build them, and it makes my heart feel good to see her and to see how happy she is with the home," Mason said.

Cole's husband says she will be happy for awhile.

This year's dream home giveaway raised more than $665,000 for the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. This is the first time in five years the organization has been able to sell out on tickets for the giveaway.
