Springfield man arrested following attempted robbery, stabbing

SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

A man was arrested early Saturday morning after police said he tried to rob two men and wound up stabbing one of the victims.

CBS 3 media partner Mass Live and The Republican reported that 24-year-old Brandon Coppedge is charged with two counts of attempted robbery.

The incident occurred near the intersection of Dwight and Worthington streets around 12:30 a.m., not far from the Mardi Gras Gentlemen's Club.

Police said the victim who was stabbed received a non-life threatening wound to his abdomen.

Coppedge will be arraigned in Springfield District Court on Monday.
