OCEAN SPRINGS, MS (WLOX) - A reported shooting in Ocean Springs on Friday night led to four arrests and the recovery of drugs and counterfeit money.
Ocean Springs police responded to a shooting at the Studio 6 Hotel on Bienville Boulevard shortly before midnight. Officials said they found 32-year-old Richard Lamar Englebert, of Greenwood, MS, at the scene with a gunshot wound to his left forearm. Englebert was transported to the Ocean Springs Hospital where he was treated for his injuries.
Capt. William Jackson, with the Ocean Springs Police Department, said Englebert described his attacker as a white male accompanied by two white females who fled westbound on Highway 90 in a blue car.
Jackson said Biloxi police officers spotted the vehicle on Highway 90, and pulled the car over to identify the possible suspects. Jackson said an Ocean Springs officer came to the scene and positively identified the suspects from the victim's description.
Officials said the driver, 45-year-old Alexander Scott Landry, of Jackson, MS, was accompanied by 35-year-old Patricia Lee McMichael, of Byrum, MS, and 31-year-old Meagan Drennan, of Vancleave, MS. Jackson said the weapon used to attack Englebert was also found in the vehicle.
Officials said further investigation revealed all four people were staying in the same room at Studio 6 Hotel. Jackson said investigators found methamphetamine, syringes, tools to make counterfeit money and counterfeit currency in the shared room. After interviewing the two females, officers also discovered that Drennan and McMichael had been prostituting out of the hotel.
All four suspects were arrested and charged with possession of tools to counterfeit U.S. currency and counterfeit U.S. notes. Jackson said Landry is also being charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Jackson said the investigation is ongoing and more charges are pending.
