DIAMONDHEAD, MS (WLOX) -

Investigators believe the man who robbed the Hancock Bank in Diamondhead Thursday is the same person who robbed a bank in Indiana and another in Illinois earlier this month. Right now, he's still on the run, and officials are racing to find him before he strikes again.

The WLOX News spoke with the sheriff in Newton County, Indiana, where the DeMotte State Bank was robbed on Friday, April 4. Sheriff Tom VanVleet said he has been in touch with investigators in Mississippi who told him, "the MO and appearance of their suspect was identical to that of the DeMotte State Bank suspect."

In the Indiana case, the suspect was described as a Hispanic male, possibly in his late 20s, about 6' tall with minimal facial hair. He never displayed a weapon during the robbery.

Investigators have already linked the suspect in the Indiana robbery to another bank robbery in Illinois. Photos taken from security cameras outside the bank in Illinois show the suspected getaway car: a silver or gray, four door Honda with Illinois license plate K66 5434. Officials said that plate was stolen from another vehicle, but may still be on the car. The same car was used in both robberies.

As for the Diamondhead investigation, Hancock County Sheriff's Office Lead Investigator Glenn Grannan said they're happy this man's stop in Mississippi wasn't very fruitful.

"He didn't get a lot of money," Grannan said. "We know he got a substantial amount a few days ago, so he's out of money and he didn't do very well yesterday. So it's a good possibility he will do this again in a very short time period. Hopefully, that will help us and hopefully someone won't be a victim," .

The FBI is now spearheading the search. If you have any information that could help in the case, call Mississippi Coast Crime Stoppers at (877) 787-5898.
