1 injured in crash with 18-wheeler on I-85 in Auburn

AUBURN, AL (WSFA) -

One person was injured in a two-vehicle crash involving an 18-wheeler on Interstate 85 in Auburn Friday afternoon.

Police say a Ford Taurus was moving slowly and stopping due to construction on I-85 northbound. The 18-wheeler struck the car from behind near Exit 51.

The driver of the Ford Taurus was trapped in the vehicle and transported by helicopter to a Columbus, GA, hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver was the only person in the vehicle.

The driver of the 18-wheeler wasn't injured.

Traffic was temporarily diverted off the interstate at Exit 51while the crash was cleared.
