Moss Point names new athletic coordinator/head football coach

MOSS POINT, MS (WLOX) -

The Moss Point School Board named Willie C. Brown as the new athletic coordinator for the district and head football coach for Moss Point High School Thursday afternoon. Brown recently served as the head football coach for Lanier High School in Jackson, MS.

Brown is a graduate of Alcorn State University where he played football on full athletic scholarship. Brown was given honorable mention as an All SWAC Defensive Tackle and SWAC Championship team member.

"I want to cultivate our kids to respect their elders, parents, teachers, their classmates and themselves," said Brown. "The only way I know how is to learn as much as I can about this community and the kids that I am serving."

Brown's coaching achievements include leading South Pike High School to the third round of the state playoffs, and bringing Hazlehurst High School its first football state championship.

Moss Point officials said Brown plans to move to Moss Point with his wife and two college aged children.
