KSLA News 12 Editorial: April 10th-Al Bolton

On the wall outside my office is a black and white photograph of Al Bolton.

It shows Al as many of you remember him, standing in front of his weather map presenting the latest forecast from the National Weather Service.

For more than three decades, Al Bolton was the weatherman in the ArkLaTex. He was welcomed into thousands of homes night after night. I met Al a few years ago here at the T.V. station. He fondly spoke about his time at KSLA. Al Bolton was laid to rest this week. He was 88. He will always be remembered as one of the pioneers of television.

It's Al's legacy, and others who have come before us, we are celebrating this year. It's our 60th anniversary.

This Saturday, we invite you to come and tour KSLA News 12, meet our anchors and other employees and get a behind the scenes look at the latest technology in television. Our open house is this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

I hope to see you. I'm James Smith.

State Police Supt. Col. Mike Edmonson needs to address this inexcusable behavior directly and restore the public's confidence. He should be fully transparent in his investigation into the matter and should invite an outside entity to look into the matter.

Be on the lookout for kids. They seem to dart out from everywhere. They are certainly not looking out for you; so please look out for them.
