(WMC-TV) - From ball gowns to brass knuckles, a former Lady in Waiting says she was attacked by a pack of girls after a mother, daughter luncheon for a local fraternity.

Germantown police are trying to piece together what happened. WMC Action News 5 is not naming the girls because they are minors.

Mother Patrice Moses says she is appalled by what happened to her 17-year-old daughter on Sunday, March 30.

"Sounds like a lifetime movie," said Moses.

Her daughter said she met a group of debutantes at a mother, daughter luncheon for a local fraternity and one of the debutantes invited the girls to celebrate at an area hotel for her birthday.

Germantown police say students from all over the area showed up at the hotel and they were told to leave.

The teen says the five girls were worried about missing curfew around midnight and they left in a minivan driven by the other debutante birthday girl.

She says for no reason, the van stopped at a cul-de-sac behind a Waffle House on South Germantown Parkway.

"And all of a sudden, all these cars started pulling up and started cutting us in," she said.

The teen says she yelled to lock all the doors, but the birthday girl unlocked the doors instead. That's when a pack of teens from other schools jumped her.

"They had, like, brass knuckles and heels, and they started jumping me," she said.

She says it came out that the debutante who was driving the minivan told the other girls that the victim was talking about them. Then, the pack of girls turned on the birthday girl. She, too, filed a police report.

"My daughter was attacked, she was beaten on, she was stomped on," said Moses.

The mother of the birthday girl had no comment.

At 7:30 Wednesday morning, Ocean Springs city workers stepped up to the city hall flag pole. They hooked Mississippi's state flag underneath the American flag, and they raised both flags over the city hall grounds. And just like that, five days of debate over whether the state flag should fly in Ocean Springs temporarily came to an end.
