SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

Five people were hospitalized with gunshot wounds early Sunday morning, but police are still investigating where the incidents happened.

During a 1 p.m. news conference on Sunday, outside of the Lux Nightclub on Worthington Street, police confirmed that one person was shot outside of the club around 2 a.m., after it had closed for the night.

Police also confirmed that a person was shot in the parking lot outside of Baystate Medical Center's emergency room.

They could not confirm where the other three people had been shot, but they do believe that all five shootings are connected and the incidents are gang related.

CBS 3 media partner Mass Live and The Republican reported that 20 rounds were fired between two rival groups.

None of the victims appeared to have suffered life-threatening injuries.

During the press conference, Mayor Domenic Sarno said he will be calling for a hearing, with the possibility of revoking Lux's entertainment license.

That license allows the club to remain open until 2 a.m.

Lux's owner, Sherwood Jarrett, told CBS 3 that his facility had the city's required amount of police and security on site and that the shooting happened across the street.

He said his customers were caught in the line of fire.

We will have more this story tonight on CBS 3 Springfield News at 11.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Springfield Police Detective Bureau at (413) 787-6355.
