GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - Rotate Black missed Tuesday's deadline of meeting financial obligations for its proposed Gulfport casino.
The developer wants to build Hemingway Resort and Casino at the west end of the Gulfport small craft harbor. It would feature a Spanish Mission style exterior and more than 200 four-star hotel rooms. However, the company failed to meet this latest deadline of 5pm Tuesday, April 1 to assure finances were in order for the proposed $112 million development.
You'll recall the Mississippi Gaming Commission held a special meeting at Gulfport City Hall December 30. Commissioners gave the project the go ahead, but that approval was contingent on meeting the April 1 financial deadline.
Gulfport Mayor Billy Hewes said he's hopeful that some developer will be able to build a casino resort on that approved site.
