OCEAN SPRINGS, MS (WLOX) - A quiet Sunday morning in a quiet Ocean Springs neighborhood was rocked by the sound of gunfire at 10:38. Police converged on the home at 209 Hunter Drive and found a man and a woman shot in a car under the carport.

Police said the shooter, another man, then shot himself to death in the driveway.

The two victims were rushed to the hospital, where the woman died about three hours later. Police officials said other family members were inside the home at the time of the shooting, but no one else was hurt.

Detectives spent the hour after the shooting searching for evidence and talking with potential witnesses. The coroner arrived, and the body was taken away. Cars were towed for potential clues, and the search for answers continued.

Neighbors were still in shock. No one wanted to talk on camera, but did say the family had just moved into the house less than two weeks ago. This was not the first time police had been called to the home.

"There was an incident before this incident took place where tires were slashed and malicious mischief was done to her vehicle," said Ocean Springs Police Captain William Jackson. "She did get a restraining order to try and protect herself from this gentleman and there was a restraining order in place at the time this took place."

We then asked Jackson where the investigation stands right now.

"Right now, we're trying to complete the investigation and conducting search warrants, vehicles and residents of the victim and suspect. When that's done, a package will be put together and taken over to the district attorney's office."
