Pearl mobile home park flooded

Posted: Updated:
PEARL, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

As potential thunderstorms move closer to the metro, many who live in flood-prone areas are bracing for the inevitable.   The Highlands Mobile Home Park, in Pearl, flooded after last night's rains.  A body of water is where the road used to be.

At one point, homeowner John Soutillo says it was waist-deep. And though he didn't have any damage this time, he's tired of the close calls.

"Our neighbors here and there, they've had to evacuate their vehicles on more than one occasion; actually most occasions," said Soutillo. "Our previous neighbors here, they've actually had their cars flooded. We don't get any answers; no help."

The homeowner says both the city of Pearl and mobile home park owner say it's the other's responsibility to fix it.

Neighbors say they've dealt with it for almost a decade.
