Safest, deadliest cities in Arizona

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

MovotoReal Estate, a national real estate company ranked the safest cities inArizona, and two Pima County cities came out on top, but neither one wasTucson.

Out of 42cities that were studied during the research for the safest cities in Arizona,Tucson ranked 42nd putting it in last place.

In orderto determine the rankings Movoto used the FBI's latest crime reports forArizona in 2012, which stated in Tucson there were more than 36,000crimes.  This means that residents had a1 in 14 chance of being the victim of a crime and a 1 in 138 chance of beingthe victim of a violent crime. 

Accordingto Tucson Police, the city is actually below the national average for violentcrimes, like homicides and assaults for cities of a similar size.  TPD officials say Tucson does have a highnumber of larcenies, crimes like shoplifting, but they say they have a taskforce that is working to lower that number.

Thesafest city in Arizona - it is just a 30 minute drive from Tucson down I-19 -Sahuarita. In second place was Oro Valley, with Gilbert, Florence and ParadiseValley making up the top five. 

MovotoReal Estate looked at three criteria to come up with this list of safestcities, they were violent and property crime stats, as well as the chances aresident could be the victim of a crime.
