GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - South Mississippi students are putting a new state test to the test.
Next spring, the PARCC assessment will replace the MCT2 and the SATP2 for English and Math. So this week, Gulfport and 139 other school districts across the state are participating in the PARCC field testing.
This gives students a chance to practice before the test goes live. It also provides feedback to help determine if the questions measure what they're supposed to measure.
"They'll read a text, answer some questions. Read another text, answer some questions. Read a text and/or watch a video, answer some questions, or write an essay, or another prose constructive response based on all three texts put together," PARCC committee member Patty Cooper explained.
School districts will not receive any results from the field tests. The testing continues through April 11th.
